Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information each time a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this usage data for reporting. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a search request to the selected partner
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Maintaining reliable and efficient site operation
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies official Starr County and Texas sources, including the sheriff, court clerks, Texas DPS Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the selected partner's privacy terms, including its retention and disclosure practices. We do not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Starr County government, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's policy applies. Review it before sharing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is not operated by us.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure site use and performance
- Search partners that process a visitor's chosen query
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, we will remove it after receiving a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights over personal data. Texas public-record access is governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while criminal-history dissemination limits appear in Government Code Chapter 411. Those laws govern public bodies and criminal-history access; they do not turn this private site into a records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of qualifying personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate information
- Seek a copy of qualifying information held about the requester
- Opt out of processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A new version will appear here with its updated effective date, and continued use will be governed by the posted version.
